Secret Society Poetry Idol

Well ladies and gentleman, welcome to the 1st Secret Society Poetry Idol :p Who's got what it takes to sweep you off your feet with words of joy or woe? To bring a tear to your eye like only a master could? Who will be the forums special bard without compare? Only you can decide! So vote :D Each week the artists will submit a poem for your judging. If they don't submit a new poem the poem from the previous week will be used, (which may bore people! So try to submit fresh material!) The contestant who has the least amount of votes each week will be eliminated from the contest! So it's important to vote for your favourites! Eventually there will only be one poet left, will be crowned the Secret Society Poetry Idol! (or a better title when I can think of one! :p)

This week the poets will be randomly paired against another contestant. Only one of the pairing will move on to the next round....

Here are the matchings.....

Love by Andrea Bestman

LOVE! a joy to; be kind and gentle passionate taking someone's hand and pulling them close towards you in a tight embrace never letting them go this is love and of course deserved by every human weather race, age or sexual orientation how they look and how they act on this earth allows self-confidence to flurish laughing with friends crying with enemies will last to the end does not fail not ever but is more then encouraging words for eachother it's being there twenty-four seven and never giving up acceptance added with a handful of forgiveness that is LOVE

vs.

Mirror Image by Lori-Anne Leonard

There is me
I am me
I do not want to be me
I see me in the mirror
I look away

People say I am pretty
I say I am not
People say I am Beautiful
I say I am not
People say I am not fat
I say I am

Why can I not except that just maybe
I am pretty
Why can I not except that just maybe
I am beautiful
Why can I not except that just maybe
I am not fat

Give me a Reason by Anel Akhmetova

Give me a reason to believe that everything will be ok As the shadows creep hoping to consume me Reason with my head, tell me my senses are all wrong Reach to me, and hold me Lead me to a land of hope So I can stay to fight another day I need to believe in something Anything at all Give me strength to carry on despite this endless pain I'm in need of a reason to believe in myself again Say what you need to my love Lie if you must I just need some comfort from you So I can look past today I need to believe in something Anything at all Give me strength to carry on despite this endless pain I'm in need of a reason to believe in myself again

Untitled by Matthew Hawn

The well of depression is a deep one.
Morning comes, the sun is shining,
another day begins with frost on the trees.
The beauty of winter is profound.
Reality sets in. Morning has come.
The pain returns. I don’t want to get up.
If only to sleep; close my eyes and forget.
Forget. If only it were that easy.
The cloud of doubt lingers. The queasy feeling returns.
Why did I have to wake up? Why must I face this again?
The darkness of one’s own soul is beyond comprehension;
beyond the ability of true description.
Despair, terror, fear; nothing compares.
I can’t go on much longer.
The well of depression is, indeed, a deep one.

Untitled by Alex

i have a friend that i can t see as a friend, i have a love that i can t see as a lover, i have a number that i can t call, i have images of a life that i can t live, i have an ennemy that i can t hate, i have a quest that i can t fight, i have a heart that i can t control, i have a mind that i can t use, i have tears that i can t dry, i have fears that i can t scare away, i have silences that i can t hear, i have fevers that i can t nurse, i have myself that i can t give, i have myself that i can t keep, i don t have you.

vs.

Seed of Despair by Pietra van der Yagt

Nothing can help me now
Nothing will help me tomorrow
My heart, like you know,
Is dripping drops or sorrow.

For me you are a thief
Which only came to me
To plant the seed of grief.
That its growing inside of me.

I know you don’t understand
What I am feeling inside.
But I am sure I can not stand
this pain that ends my pride.

I’m confused and I can’t see the light
If I still love you or is just a might

My Dearest Secret Love by Rob Mulder

There's something I want to tell you But I just can't find the words To tell you how I feel I don't know how to tell you How when you're near I feel safe, When you're far, the world's a bitter place I can't express the way I crumble When I feel your gentle touch How when you whisper in my ear All I can think, is I want to kiss you To hold you in my arms until the end of time But most of all, I don't know how to tell you That I love you, that I need you How every night I cry myself to sleep I hate how the longings kill me inside But yet, you'll never know dear friend The way I truely feel So forever I love you in silence My Dearest Secret Love

vs.

Untitled by Toby

shot with a bullet through the heart destroyed it like fragile glass the shiny remains cling to me catch the light , reflect the past

smashed, cracked and splintered a thousand peices scattered stinging eyes and splitting skin razor sharp and shattered

nothing left but little fragments tiny slithers of see-through pain gather it all up with bloody fingers say goodbye, wave farewell again!

Untitled by Andy

We met on the bay some time last may Ever since then you have been a great friend You spoke to me first and often I was nursed You watched and listened as I was duly christened You had me vetted before I was netted With an introduction to a whole new seduction Not in a sexual way but in a conventional one I was accepted a nut and you brought me the hut You’ve been a great friend and that I won’t pretend You gave me advice and have been ever so nice For all that I will say that we will meet some day I cannot forget that I met your friend on the net That wasn’t to be and you was still there for me Words of encouragement that were always nourishment Since that time I’ve had this in mind Now I am doing it and soon you will be viewing it I’ve not asked for advice for this new love is so nice But when that time comes you’ll be where I go runs So this is in theory a thanking you dearly With this you will know so now I will go But before I do again thank you I will not forget how we met on the net You’re like my big sis and I do sometimes miss I will wait and see if you one day need me For help an advice or to just be nice

vs.

On the Slopes of Lassen by Kirk MacGreggor

The naivete of the Valley grows In lily, sequoia, and soft grasses While the Mountain inhales The promise of night and exhales The solitude of aery isolation. Where the two hold hands in Damp forests and mossy cloisters, Only the miraculous and venerable Shafts of radiance penetrate, Giving rise to rare and cunning Inflorescence. And when the day has spent Its quiver of burning grace, The clouds drift to sleep, Blanketing the sheltered Valley In grey condensation. Yet the innocence of the Valley And the tranquility of the forest The Mountain, in all jaded trial, Knows not. Sleep, tired Mountain, rest with certainty Not in the permanence of your lover Valley Nor in the amorous charity of the forest, But rest assured in the gratitude Of the enduring green on your feet And the jade resting on your shoulders.

Untitled by Chris Strom

And we are like the bricks placed in a wall. We never dream to search for a way out. And sometimes when the wall’s about to fall, The wall holds out, but was there any doubt? But we are also waves upon the shore, And we will show up there both day and night. We come to do our job and nothing more. We never think of putting up a fight. And even as the pull of gravity Can only keep us fixed here on the Earth, Your only job is to be here with me. Nobody else on Earth could know your worth. But leaves and trees in autumn have to part. The same holds true in matters of the heart

Untitled by MacKenzie

Secrets within smiles, Destruction often comes with soft gestures Made by porcelain hands wrapped Tightly in white lace Momentary silence, Those short breathes of something Living all around you that does Not want to be heard Beautiful simplicity, Gods and words dictate wishful minds But in the end we all have that Very same thought Endless empty words, Keeping quiet in the presence of reality And learning that each tomorrow Finds us further than today Deceptive prospects, Trust no future that is seen as constant For the drum beats inside us Grow weaker and weaker Secrets within smiles, Smiling in the face of their destruction that Comes with beauty and my life That comes with secrets

vs.

Untitled by Bill

i see you in the stars above, i see you in my dreams. while walking down a quiet road, and in the bubbling streams. i see you when i'm working, i see you in the sky. in the golden rays of sunshine, and the clouds as they drift by. i see you when i shower, i see you in our bed. thinking of us making love, i see it in my head. your lovely image haunts me, its beyond my full control. you're burned too deep inside my heart, You're etched into my soul. the lonely minutes, hours, days, drag by while you are gone. by my side is where i need you, every second is too long. sometimes the memories flood my brain, i flashback to the past. all the time we've spent together, how it seemed to go too fast. I see our walks along the beach, the picnics that we've shared. our treks into the mountains, stunning views at which we stared. Holding hands and smiling, we talk and walk along. I see me serenading you, with a soft and tender song. our talks about the future, about the past we reminisced. We sometimes stopped along the way, to simply hug and kiss. i flashback even further, to the very day we met. how vividly it rushes back, a day i wont forget. Hurt and yearning souls, reaching out for love and passion. Finding in our hearts and words, a positive attraction. from that day our feelings grew, the future bright to see. i had eyes for only you, and you for only me. i see you every single day, in everything i do. my mind might think of other things, but my thoughts return to you.

Untitled by Samantha Harper

I could see it in your eyes that day There was something wrong You ended my happy existence with a goodbye You said you had lived this lie for too long

You said you never really loved me And I had long since become a burden to you After all those years together In a single moment we were through

Your words were like daggers With cruel precision you struck every chord You played upon all my insecurities Before plunging in the final sword

Still, I begged you not to go Indifferent to my tears you walked away How was I ever supposed to know All I had lived for would end that day

Hope by Lubna Naveed

Don't be sad don't be scared There is a light at the end of this tunnel But first you have to go up through a funnel Don't get tempted to chase the firefly Let me tell you the reason why Cause they are going to make you astray The inner light will find your way The tunnel will soon end Just a few more bends Then there will be a big light That will eat the night Are you ready for that sight? Warning! hold your carriage tight
