I forgot how to read once I started University
University seems to do that to people, doesn't it?  I went to the U of M for a bit, and found that my love of reading died for a bit...

(but I've brought it back to life now!) *cackles maliciously*

The last book I read was this book about a family in Manitoba where the father used to beat the kids and everyone knew, but did nothing
    I can't remember the name

Unfortunately I'm used to reading about the worst humanity has to offer, I suppose it has to do with studying psychology and law

    Crosses all over the boulevard
The streets outside your window overflooded
People staring they know you've been broken
Repeatedly reminded by the looks on their faces
Ignore them tonight and you'll be alright
We'll cast some light and you'll be alright

    thx,would be interesting :p
as for kunderas *l'insoutenable legerete de l etre*,i read in the other thread that u mentioned this to the book club as an idea,i heard that his book was one of the biggest disappointement ever when it came out years ago,and that for once, the movie surpassed it by far.
i m usually not one who will listen to opinions when it comes to books &co (well actually for everything lol),but i do trust those (many)who told me the same thing, one by one for years.the title is way more appealing,or TOO appealing should i say,and the substance is  apparentely a tad empty and badly writen.but of course,we all have our tastes :)

Reading Hero by Perry Moore. It's about a gay teenage boy who discovers he has super powers. A light quick read for when you don't want to push those brain cells too much :)

I'll have to check out By the River Piedra .

You should try reading Carmilla, it actually predates Dracula by about 25 years and it's interesting how many ideas seem to overlap
